Skylark Therapy has an exciting opportunity for dynamic and creative Speech Language Pathologists to work in our office:

Position 1:
Start date: September 15, 2023 (negotiable)
0.4 FTE continuing contract in our office or local private school on Monday/Wednesday, 10:00a-6:00p.

Position 2:
Start date: November 1, 2023
0.6 FTE 1 year maternity leave coverage in our office on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, 10:00a-6:00p.

 About us

Skylark Therapy an innovative, creative, and well-equipped collaborative private clinic in Port Moody providing client-centered services to the pediatric population. At present, we have 3 full time and 2 part time SLPs and an Occupational Therapist. Music Therapy is also provided on the premises by IU Music Therapy. The therapists at Skylark Therapy believe in holistic and interdisciplinary treatment that addresses the development of the whole child including language, communication and social skills, physical and fine motor skills, sensory integration and processing skills and social emotional skills as well as age-appropriate life skills.

We have a large range of materials, toys and therapy activities and have up to date assessment materials for the preschool and school aged populations. Many of our clients are Autistic but increasingly we are receiving requests for services for neuro-typical preschool and school-aged clients who are waitlisted for public services.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of services, predominantly weekly in clinic sessions as well as assessment, consultation, and occasional home and school visits.
  • Provide sessions on site at local private school one day a week.
  • Support children with diverse challenges.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic and child development principles to provide evidence-based services and create functional, innovative solutions for each client.
  • Timely documentation of clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively with families and team members.
  • Demonstrate polite and assertive communication skills.
  • Have strong critical thinking skills.
  • Perform sundry administrative tasks when not seeing clients.

Salary: $270-$350/day depending on experience

Skylark Therapy has an exciting opportunity for dynamic and creative Consultant Speech Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists who want to work 3-5 days per week; Part time after school hours are also available.

Our pay scale is as follows:

0-3 years experience: $90/45 minute session, approximately $40,000-70,000 p.a.

4-7 years experience: $97.50/45” minute session approximately $45,000-90,000p.a.

8+ years experience: $105/45” minute session

12+ years experience: $117/45” minute session

A guaranteed minimum income of $3000-$5000/month is available, depending on the number of days worked. A signed contract is required committing to staying 2 years to qualify for the guaranteed minimum income.

  • Knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic and child development principles to provide evidence-based services and create functional, innovative solutions for each client.
  • Timely documentation of clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes
  • Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with families, other therapists, and school-based teams.

Qualifications

  • Licensure with respective college, either the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC or the College of Occupational Therapists of BC.
  • New graduates will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Commitment to providing Teletherapy (using Zoom) to appropriate clients.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) list (supervision available)

About Skylark Therapy

  • We receive a significant number of requests for an AAC trained SLP and will provide training to someone with interest in this area.
  • We have a large range of materials, toys and therapy activities and have up to date assessment materials for the preschool and school aged populations.

COVID-19 considerations:

  • We currently have a full safety/cleaning plan in place to keep our consultants, children and families as safe as possible. Masks are required for all staff and clients over 5 who are able to wear them

Rate: $90/45 minute session (approximately $3000-$7000/month for 3-5 days/week)
Skylark Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and creative Consultant Speech Language Pathologist to support children with diverse communication challenges. An interest in or desire to work with children who require support to develop skills using augmentative and alternative communication systems is especially desired. Join a team of supportive, experienced therapists eager to collaborate and share skills.

We are looking for full time therapists who want to work 3-5 days per week. We also have space available for therapists who wish to work a few extra hours a week after school. Our sessions are typically 45 minutes and therapists are paid at the rate of $90/45 minutes. A monthly stipend is available for full time clinicians during the first 6 months while they build up their caseload.

  • Provide speech-language therapy with children aged 18 months to 18 years using relevant skills, knowledge, and clinical reasoning.
  • Provide a range of services, predominantly weekly treatment sessions but also assessment, consultation, home visits and occasional school visits.
  • Support children with diverse communication challenges.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic and child development principles to provide evidence-based services and create functional, innovative solutions for each client.
  • Timely documentation of session notes and once yearly treatment plan, summary report, or assessment report, focussing on summarizing outcomes and setting new goals
  • Occasional formal standardized assessments, as part of a multidisciplinary team assessment.
  • Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with families, other therapists, and school-based teams.
  • Demonstrate polite but assertive communication skills.
  • Have strong critical thinking skills.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Speech Sciences or equivalent
  • Licensure with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia.
  • Professionals with a minimum of 5 years experience are preferred, however new graduates will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Willingness to travel, with travel stipend offered.
  • Commitment to providing Teletherapy (using Zoom) to appropriate clients.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) list (supervision available as necessary)
